So what do you do to the original door studs?
Specially when the previous owner has killed some of them by trying to unscrew them with a hammer or so?
Normally, you'd buy the original Lotus stuff like these:

Well.. not for me, thanks! I think replacing the door studs with some metal parts is nice but these are just a bit to poppy for me. Call it over the edge or so, I just don't like 'em. A matter of taste I suppose!

After quite a search and some discussions with the people from Online Schrauben, I found out that these guys have nice stainless rings and ofcourse the screws that fit to these rings.
Just one thing left... how to glue these black thingy's to the rings and how to make them do something that get them bigger when you turn the screw.. (heuh? ;)
A friend explained the working of a so called Rawl Nut to me. I found them in a nearby Fabory store.
Started off with M5 x 25 Rawl Nuts but found out that M5 x 14 would be more then sufficient to make the door panel stay in the door.
The only disadvantage is the fact that you'll have to drill the holes in the door... up to 10mm no problem if you do it with a rather fast turning and NEW drill.

Look at the disassembled parts:

And this is what it looks like when ready:

There is this advantage when you make the door nuts yourself... You can make more then just the ones for the doorpanel. Actually, you can make one for the 'cheapfeeling gearshift console' and for the attachement of the tunnel console to the back panel. I've included one picture of the gearshift console with the 'universal nut' installed. It's rock solid now and will not move anywhere anymore!
