While having a look at several Lotus Elise Fan Sites, we found a nice guesture from Frank Hofman, aka Franky at his German Power Elise website. The picture at the left must look familiar to Elise
owners... it's a factory standard camcover. This time without the screeming yellow cap on it... At the right, you can find the tools you need to do this job quick and easy... |

As this sanding device is producing an awfull lot of dust, it's really mandatory to work like a surgin does... Take a piece of plastic, cut out the camcover and use some heavy tape to stick the plastic to the surroundings of the cover. Take the same heavy duty tape to cover the oil refill opening. VERY IMPORTANT: Always put on at least three layers of tape on the refill opening. If you'd attack the tape with the sanding machine, you'd only scrape off one layer of the tape and be alerted that you should stop sanding at that spot. If you would just put on one layer, you would directly cut through the tape and spoil all the dust and paint particles into the engine! |

The result of putting the plastic on and starting to work with this sanding machine is visible in the above pictures From that moment on, it's just easy going.. Take your time to reach the little corners and try to move the machine fluently to prevent holes in the alloy.. Now if your're finished, the camcover should look like the one at below pictures. You are finally able to see that there's something under the enginecover :-) Thanks Franky! |
